Take some time, get lost and let your mind wander at Anna Kaplan Contemporary (formerly BT&C Gallery). The gallery on Niagara Street just opened a new exhibit, channeling major nostalgia. Fictions by Julian Montague is based around a fictional 1970’s art institution called “The Thorold Gallery.” Records, posters, books and other memorabilia shape the installation, pulling viewers into this fabricated, yet pretty believable life.

Not only is the art bold, but there is a music component that lends to even more layers of the installation. Created by Ulysses Atwhen (aka D.Olivier Delrieu-Schulze), the original music is mixed in quad (4- Channel) to a 4-track reel-to-reel tape format. (aka – looks and sounds awesome).

“What I really want people to do is to take these fictional works into being,” said Montague. “It’s about prompting the viewer to imagine this entire process.”
