Letting the superego take hold

Musician Jaz Frazier has been described as a “conscious rapper.” Jaz performs as her superego Hop Hop which gives her license to let loose and be “weird and extreme” on stage. But there’s a lot of groundwork that goes into writing the songs she performs. And making time to make music can be a challenge.

Located upstairs at 1250 Niagara Street, Love in Motion yoga does things differently. If you’ve already heard their presentation in this week’s episode, you know they’re in search of ways to move, grow, and evolve differently. This is us at Rise speaking, and we can say with sincerity that LIM is where EVERYONE is welcome. Not an intimidating scene by any means, first timers get as much out of a class as a seasoned veteran. The community LIM has built leaves class feeling positive about themselves, their bodies, their situations. It’s really a place built first on love and second on health. Check it out anytime. More info here on their website.

WNY Book Arts Center

At Book Arts, they’re protecting the realm! Before everything we experienced was on a screen (like this…) there was manual letter press. Putting together an incredible print production took a lot more than copy, paste, alter font size. Home to printing presses from previous centuries, wood type sets, an art gallery, event space, retail from local artists and so much more, Book Arts is a cultural institution shedding its “best kept secret” reputation.
Stop down to their storefront on Washington and Mohawk during hours and see what’s going on in one of Buffalo’s cultural standouts. More info on their website.
