Welcome to 2051.
This October, issue 8 will be the biggest project Rise Collaborative has ever undertaken, and our sponsors will be part of the hype surrounding it.
Issues 1-7 were a series of lifestyle magazines, covering arts and culture, fashion, community and politics. For one issue only, we’ll switch from short reports to short stories, employing local authors to write about Buffalo in September, 2051 when the city is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Pan American Exposition. Our advertisers are invited to imagine what their products or services may look like in a renewed Buffalo, thirty years from now, and write their ads for that era as well. As our readers catch on, their eyes will be thoroughly reviewing every ad, making your message more closely read than ever before.
We are extremely excited for this year’s project and invite you to join us for what will absolutely be the talk of the town upon its release.
If you’re not familiar with our publication by now, No Boundaries magazine is a 68-page, perfect bound magazine printed in Buffalo and distributed across WNY’s storefronts, cafe’s, bars and restaurants for free.
Soft touch, perfect-bound
Not a typical gloss cover, NB utilizes the “soft touch” process from our printers in Cheektowaga, NY to give that high-quality feel to the entire cover. We go further: Readers collect issues 4-18 to reveal hidden design installed incrementally onto the 1/4″ spine of every edition.
If WNY is experiencing a renaissance, shouldn’t its publication design standards, too?
Because we distribute for free, it’s hard to say exactly who will be reading, but we’re happy to send over our distribution list upon request so that you can see the types of businesses receiving a few copies, and where hundreds of copies fly off the shelves on opening weekend like both locations of the Lexington Co-op.
We do however know who makes up our digital audience, and they are often the folks who seek out copies on release day. They are:
– 84% under age 40
– 64% female
– Roughly 51% living in the city of Buffalo, 40% living in Buffalo’s suburbs, 5% in Rochester, 4% elsewhere in the US.
– Based on content engagement, ours is an audience that is interested in and supports locally-owned businesses over national chains, seeks to know more about artists in our community, non profit work in our community, all parties and events, and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure plans and updates.
The magazine is 76 pages so that we can excite our readers and reward them for putting their phones down with color, space, and thought-out design.
Unlike other magazines in town, this is not a book of ads mixed with a little content. We run on 40-50 ads only, allowing our advertisers to not get lost in the publication. Click the image below to browse Issues 4-7 to see what we mean.
Articles are read start to finish without a break. This keeps readers from racing past your advertisement to the rest of the article. Instead, ads have designated places between each article where you’ve got our audience’s full attention while they take a break between articles. This is your space. While we encourage our advertisers to seek the highest quality photos and design for their placements, you’re welcome to say and place anything, in any style (except any imagery or message that attacks a person or group of people).
Our younger audience wants a blend of fun and serious content, mixed with style and flare. We deliver.
It’s all about finding balance and not being known for covering just one or two things. Because we publish only twice per year, we take weeks to perfect our lineup of content and then tap our incredible team of authors, designers, and photographers to create a magazine that is thought-provoking, but also easy to digest.
7,000 copies of No Boundaries will remain free to the public to consume, ensuring you hit a diverse audience of all walks of life, and in all corners of the region including every single neighborhood of Buffalo, every one of its suburbs, as well as Niagara Falls, and all over Rochester’s neighborhoods too. The magazine has subscribers from 13 different states around the country and that list continues to grow.
#NoBoundaries8 is scheduled to release October 2021.
