Read it. Design it. Build it. EAT IT.
This Saturday, 3-6P, WNYBAC is throwing their 11th Annual Edible Book Festival at their HQ – Washington and Mohawk downtown. Kids. Adults. Artists and accountants. All are invited. One of the things we love so much about WNYBAC is their non-stop push for literacy and promoting a love of reading and writing. This event is one waaaay outside of the box way of cultivating that love. We all need less Facebook (said while sharing blog to Facebook), and many more books. Get downtown this weekend.

Join us for this unique family friendly event. We invite community members of all skill levels and ages to create and exhibit 100% Edible Books! The books are exhibited, documented, judged and eaten. PLUS prizes are awarded. Festivities include basket raffles, hands-on Bookmaking & Letterpress demos, and an Edible Craft! The Edible Book Festival is fun for all ages!
About the history & purpose of the Festival: The Edible Book Festival is held around the world every year on or around April Fools Day. This event unites bibliophiles, book artists, and food lovers of all ages to celebrate the ingestion of culture, and a book’s fulfilling nourishment!
Create an Edible Book for YOUR chance to win prizes: Registration is open to enter an 100% edible & handmade Edible Book into WNYBAC’s Festival. We have two age categories, Adult & Child. Edible Book Chefs receive two free admissions to the festival and a chance to win prizes! Local celebrity judges, both in food and in the arts, are enlisted to select the winners. Judging will take place between 3:30-4pm and winners will be announced at approximately 4:30pm in 5 categories, including the original categories of: Best Book and Best Tasting.
We will also award prizes in the category of “People’s Favorite” where attendees get to vote themselves on their favorite creation. Finally, we are rolling out two brand new categories this year: “The Best Presentation” and “Funniest & Punniest.” There are more categories to take home prizes in than ever before! All guests are allowed to partake in eating the exhibits after judging.
