RISE TOGETHER T-Shirts and Sweatshirts will benefit Buffalo String Works and ROCMusic.
In 2016, we ran a “Buy One, Give One” winter hat campaign to benefit refugees in partnership with The International Institute of Buffalo. In 2017, we added sweatshirts and jackets to the list, and Jericho Road Community Health Center distributed all of those to refugees in need. Over those two years, we sold over 500 items, and you donated over 500 more. It was just incredible. With apparel showing RISE BFLO, YOU BELONG, or ALL EQUAL, you showed solidarity with our immigrant and refugee neighbors, we built stronger communities, and we kept people warm!
This year, we’re asking you to hop in on a new venture, in both Buffalo and Rochester, where we’ll be doing a “Buy One, Donate Funds” operation. $10 from every sweatshirt sold, and $5 from every T-shirt sold, will directly benefit either Buffalo String Works, or ROCmusic, based on your preference.
Buffalo String Works
Buffalo String Works’ mission is to provide high-quality music instruction on stringed instruments to children of low-income, refugee and immigrant parents. These children from all over the city and the world have taken the stage with The National at Town Ballroom, performed at Kleinhann’s Music Hall, and have also toured through retirement communities and Burchfield Penney Art Center. BSW gives children in our community a sense of belonging, free instruments and free instruction. The positive benefits on their self esteem, academic performance and more are invaluable.
ROCmusic Collaborative
ROCmusic offers classical music instruction and group/private instrument lessons to students in grades 1-12, who live in the City of Rochester, NY. No previous musical experience or training is required and there is no charge for instruction. Should the world’s next great composer or performer never get the opportunity because they cannot afford an instrument or instruction? ROCmusic, affiliated with the Eastman School of Music, doesn’t think so. Every child deserves all the benefits that come from music, no matter their background.
Now that you know about the cause, let’s get you into some apparel.
Both the T-shirts and the Sweatshirts are unisex sizing, to fit any gender. They’re available in Heather Navy (shown) or Gray (not shown).
A couple things to note:
When you click on either product, please *scroll down* to see the notes we’ve included about Sweatshirts that differ from last year in material (way softer) and size (improved cuts), and T shirts that remain the same that we’ve been running over the last 18 months.
The color of your sweatshirt is subject to change. Because we want to raise as much money as possible for these organizations, we wait to order all supplies until the sale ends. Heather Navy stock is known to dwindle in November/December, so if you order it, you may receive a different navy or black, still with white text. We’re so sorry about this, but it’s an issue we have to deal with at the end of the year. For that same reason, we also cannot process returns or exchanges. We hope you continue to support the cause, in any color 🙂
