Torn Space Blends Intimate Live Performance and Virtual Reality in RHAPSODY
Hey it’s another Friday, another exceedingly great roundup of WNY Instagrams, and another Rise promotion of Buffalo’s art scene. We have featured Torn Space in the past. They scared the pants off everyone who attended They Kill Things at Silo City in 2015. Now they’re back with a whole new experience on Fillmore Ave with Rhapsody – running November 4-27. Want to learn more? First you need to see who won the #RiseBFLO contest on Instagram to receive two tickets!

So what’s it all about?
In collaboration with multi-media arts collective FLATSITTER, Torn Space pushes the performative limits this fall in its newest original production, Rhapsody, which blends installation, live performance and virtual reality for an unforgettable immersive theater experience. Dan Shanahan and Melissa Meola direct Bonnie Jean Taylor, Becky Globus, Dechen Dolkar and Diane Gaidry in this walk-through experience.
Torn Space has earned a reputation for breaking narrative norms. In Rhapsody, audiences are broken up into pairs and move through a series of eight rooms where they study a woman as she deals with stages of grief after the loss of her family. Following her path towards personal transcendence, this woman’s traumas and tranquilities become the viewers’ as scenes play out with intimate intensity.
Seating is limited so it is strongly recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time. Get tickets here.
