The Western New York Book Arts Center(WNYBAC) is excited to announce the opening reception for the upcoming exhibition, “Don’t Be So Blue – A Collaborative Exhibition by Mizin Shin and Rachel Shelton.” The exhibition presents a merging of style and concept in the form of drawings, prints, and a large-scale artists’ book.

The WNYBAC is presenting the exhibition by WNY artists, from October 14-November 1, 2017. An opening reception to celebrate the exhibition will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 7:00PM-9:00PM at 468 Washington St. in Buffalo. This event is free and open to the public.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the artists will lead a free Workshop on Saturday October 21st from 12:00PM–2:00PM at WNYBAC. Please register at wnybookarts.org.

“Don’t Be So Blue” is a single body of work produced by artists Mizin Shin and Rachel Shelton. For Shin and Shelton, working collaboratively is hardly a stretch. While the two maintain separate and often contrasting studio practices, there are several points of connection between their work: both artists are printmakers with a background in drawing; both are interested in analyzing connections and systems from both macro and micro perspectives; and both usually begin with a concept and build a body of work from there.
